5Terre - Vernazza to Corniglia

Day 1 of Cinque Terre!  First thoughts - it's really hot here, and I'm really out of shape.  The guide said this walk should take 1.5 hours, I took nearly 3 (in my defence, I did stop to take something like 500 pictures...).  Anyways, I'm not going to provide too much commentary, since I think the pictures do most of the talking.  I will say that 5Terre is definitely worth going to if you're not afraid of doing a bit of walking/hiking (and some trails are less challenging than others) and the actual views you see here are way better than my pictures!

The first thing I saw after leaving the train station.  Yeah this is going to be awesome!  :)

You can actually see some of the damage from last year's floods evident on the buildings still.

The local people are very proud of how they've been able to bounce back after the flood of October 2011, as well they should be.  I know some tourists are hesitant to come here because they don't know if it's recovered - I don't think that's an issue.  Come see for yourself!  There's still some construction, but overall I think they've done an amazing job!

Oh it's lunch time?  OK I'll have...  whatever's in your deep fryer!

Never mind the views that 5Terre is famous for, even the trails themselves are gorgeous!

But yeah, seriously watch where you're stepping out there.  I don't think that's supposed to be off the trail like that...

These carts on rails are supposed to help in the harvesting of grapes from the slopes, but I'd love to take a ride on one of those (like one of those roller coasters you have to sign a waiver for!).  C'mon, I bet it's been done before...  :P

I found a picture of myself!!!

Couldn't help myself, had to get two scoops.  Actually, I kinda did look like that kid afterwards...  Somehow that gelato turned me into a ginger...  Maybe I need to go see a doctor!

Yeah I'm with the cat on this one.  "It's too hot.  Screw it, I'm just going to take a nap on the table."

Great little Enoteca (wine bar) with an amazing view over the water (and across the grape-growing slopes).  Just stunning at sunset...

Yeah this is the good life...

What a nice decor you have here!  Oh and what's that parked out front???  :D:D:D  (I miss my subie...)

Delicious pasta for dinner!  I also had stuffed mussels for a starter but I was too hungry and I ate them all before I could dig my camera out lol

Now I can't read Italian, but if you look at it sideways, it just looks like he's walking through an open door lol
