What I did:
- September 15, 2012 - Picked up our rental car in Florence, drove to Montevarchi (outlet mall shopping! - hope the other blogger doesn't mind my shout out), and drove in to the castle (Castellucio) that we were to stay at for the next week.
- September 16 - 21, 2012 - Honestly, the days started to blend together and I lost track of what I did and where I went on each day so... I'll just toss in a paragraph in each of my Tuscany blog posts to explain!
- September 22, 2012 - We returned the rental car in Florence and took the train to Naples, then made our way to Positano (train & bus).
Yeah this is my castle... |
C'mon in friend! |
And it's a castle with a view! |
Wow! Our castle even comes with a scorpion to guard against invaders! Uhhh... wait a minute... |
So yeah, staying in a castle was pretty cool, even if it's not as deluxe as you might think (c'mon, they didn't even give us a butler lol). Still, it was a neat experience! :D
So this day was pretty interesting. We had to wake up pretty early (which... uhhh... generally isn't a plus for me, lol), as our cooking class was in a small town about an hour (or so) away from our castle. Our GPS decided to drop us off in the middle of a gravel parking area in the middle of nowhere so we had to do a bit of improvising. Luckily, we were only about 15 minutes late. The cooking class was pretty fun, getting to know the family running it and learning a bit about Italian cooking, but the food was pretty average. Anyways, it was more about getting a genuine Italian kitchen experience for me so that was fine. After the class ended, we punched Montalcino (an Italian town/city known for its Brunello wine) into the GPS. Somehow, we ended up in Florence (which was an hour and a half away in the other direction) and at that point, we threw up our hands, gave up, and drove back to the castle! hahaha hilarious times :D
We did an all-day Tuscan cooking class. This is where they taught us how to make home-made biscotti. |
Kelven chopping tomatoes for the bruscetta |
And my favourite part - EATING!!! lol Kelven sure does look hungry... |

Doing some wine-tasting in Montalcino, home of the (well-deserved) world-famous Brunello wine! |
Either that's a huge bottle of wine or I'm a midget... or both I guess! |
hahaha kind of a creepy shot... everybody's looking at the proscuitto and she's just staring at me... "Back off bitch, these are all mine!" |
Larry??? IS THAT YOU??? |
Looks like it's the end of the line for poor Larry... |
I'm so immature... OSTERIA TITTI??? HAHAHA KELVEN CAN WE EAT THERE??? |
And we found some Egyptian knockers too... Yeah I know what you thought when you read that. Pervert... |
